Experience Paris II
The KIIS Paris II summer program offers Paris as its classroom. Designed to take full advantage of the city’s abundant cultural resources, the Paris II program offers students a selection of advanced French-language courses in the renowned "city of lights." From the Louvre to the Musee d'Orsay,
Notre Dame to Sacre Coeur, and Montmartre to Montparnasse, students do not merely visit Paris but have the time to make it their own.
With five weeks in Paris, students become intimately familiar with this modern, cosmopolitan city, celebrated for its savoir-faire and joie de vivre. Students are encouraged to use their language skills both in class and while exploring the many sides of this marvelous city. In short, the language experience does not end after exiting the classroom— it only begins as you set out to explore Paris’s venerable architecture, parks, neighborhoods, restaurants, and cafés.
The program is designed to offer students a balance between structured time for classes, program activities, and excursions and unstructured time for study, completion of group projects, and pursuit of individual interests (including travel). Group excurcions include a visit to the Orangerie, a day trip toNormandy , a picnic, the theatre, and learning to play petanque. These and other activities offer students ample opportunity to strengthen their knowledge of French language and culture.
An unlimited Navigo metro/bus pass enables students to travel with ease throughout Paris. On select weekends, students can travel independently to locations in France and beyond.
Please note: All courses are in French. Students wishing to participate in the Paris II program must have at least 12 hours of college-level French or the equivalent at time of departure.

Students are expected to speak French on excursions and in public places. Each student must take at least one three-credit hour course. However, students typically take two three-credit hour courses. The program fee is the same if you take one or two courses. A student cannot take more than two three-credit hour courses. All course credit will be issued by Western Kentucky University. The WKU Registrar will transfer your grades to your home institution approximately 6-8 weeks after the completion of the program. We encourage all students - long before KIIS program departure - to contact their Academic Advisor, Department Head, and/or the Study Abroad Office to determine the credit equivalencies at their home institution (that is, confirm ahead of time with your college or university how your desired KIIS courses will count towards your major and/or overall degree requirements). Course offerings are subject to change according to enrollment.
