The KIIS two-week program in Segovia, Spain exposes students to Spanish culture and history by offering courses that are part of the General Education offerings for colleges and universities throughout Kentucky and surrounding states. Set in the foothills of the Guadarrama Mountains, Segovia has a visible history that dates back to pre-Roman times. Segovia’s 1st-century aqueduct is a living lesson on art and history. Its majestic cathedral was the last Gothic structure built in Spain, and the Alcazar, the fortress/castle, sits like the prow of an imaginary ship against the background of blue Segovia skies. Segovia also offers a weekly open-air market, picturesque plazas and cafes, a lively nightlife and frequent cultural events.
