Spend a month in Belize doing field research with an experienced Northern Kentucky University faculty member. Gain valuable skills such as ethnographic interviewing to develop an appreciation for Belizean cultural diversity.
Program includes round-trip air transportation from Cincinnati, Ohio to Belize and ground transportation to the program sites. Round-trip air transportation from other cities MAY be considered on a case-by-case basis at an additional cost. This program is limited to twelve students with a waiting list offered at no risk.

Participants will reside at D*Victoria Hotel in Orange Walk. Accommodations are based on double occupancy. Each room is equipped with air conditioning, ceiling fan and private bath.
Course Description: Immerse yourself in Belize as you practice field research with an experienced faculty member from Northern Kentucky University. Gain valuable skills such as ethnographic interviewing to develop an appreciation for Belizean cultural diversity. The ethnographic field school is partnering with Belizean institutes and associations in order to contribute to an understanding of the culture of sugar cane farmers in Orange Walk District village communities. Our community partners will use our results and recommendations to develop and conduct workshops for farmers on agricultural techniques, economics, health, and other community development topics.
Prerequisite: One course in anthropology or sociology
